The right hotel CV format helps a busy HR manager understand in ten seconds who you are, what you can do and which job you want. Hotels receive many applications for every opening, so a clean, one or two page CV that is easy to scan gives you a real advantage, whether you are a fresher or an experienced chef, steward, receptionist or housekeeper.

Below you will find a free copy-and-paste resume template for hospitality jobs, tips for each section, sample lines for different departments, and how to use your CV to apply free on Hospitality Vacancy, a free job website for hotel and hospitality jobs.
What hotel HR managers look for in a CV
The job you want, written clearly at the top
Relevant experience, with hotel names, positions and dates
Practical skills such as guest handling, cooking sections, room cleaning standards or hotel software
Grooming and attitude, shown through a professional photo (if the employer or country expects one) and a positive summary
Languages, which matter a lot in hotels with international guests
Easy reading: short lines, bullet points and no spelling mistakes
The best hotel CV format: section by section
A reverse-chronological layout, with your latest job first, works best for most hotel jobs. Follow this order.
1. Name and contact details
Write your full name in large letters, then your city and country, email address and a contact number. Use a simple, professional email address. Add your LinkedIn profile only if it is complete.
2. Job title or objective
One line that matches the job you are applying for, for example "Commis II โ Indian and Continental Kitchen" or "Front Office Associate".
3. Professional summary
Three or four lines about your experience, strongest skills and what you want next. Change it for each job.
4. Key skills
Six to ten short bullet points. Mix technical skills (for example, "tandoor and curries", "check-in and check-out", "banquet setup") with soft skills (teamwork, guest service, working under pressure).
5. Work experience
For each job: position, hotel name, city, and dates (month and year). Under it, write three to five bullet points that start with an action word, such as "prepared", "served", "handled" or "trained".
6. Education and training
Your highest qualification first, then any hospitality training or certificates. If you have attended food safety training under FSSAI's Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme, list it here. It is useful for kitchen and F&B roles.
7. Languages
List each language and your level: fluent, good or basic.
8. Personal details (keep it short)
Some employers, especially for overseas jobs, ask for passport availability or nationality. Add only what the job asks for. You do not need to share sensitive details such as religion or your full home address.
How to write a strong professional summary
The summary is the first thing an HR manager reads, so make every word count. Use this simple formula: your role and experience, your two or three strongest skills, and the job you want next.
Experienced example: "Commis I with four years of experience in Indian and tandoor sections of a business hotel. Skilled in bulk cooking for banquets, FIFO and kitchen hygiene. Looking to grow as Demi Chef de Partie in a reputed hotel."
Fresher example: "Hospitality graduate with industrial training in front office, housekeeping and F&B service. Confident communicator in English and Hindi, comfortable with shifts and eager to learn. Looking for a Front Office Associate role."
Avoid empty phrases like "hard-working person seeking a challenging job". Specific details are far more convincing.

CV tips for hotel jobs abroad
Write in clear, simple English and check spelling carefully.
Mention experience with international guests, cuisines or brand standards.
Keep your passport valid and mention it if the job asks.
Add a photo only if the employer or country expects it, and use a neat, formal picture.
Never pay anyone to "approve" your CV for a job abroad. Read our safe job search guide first.
Common CV mistakes to avoid
Long paragraphs instead of bullet points
Unprofessional email addresses
Missing dates or unexplained gaps
The same CV for every job, with no change in the summary
False experience or fake certificates, which can end your career
Fancy fonts, many colours or a photo with sunglasses
Write a short cover message
When you apply online or by email, add three or four lines with your CV. Mention the exact job title, one reason you fit, and when you can join. For example: "Dear Hiring Manager, I am applying for the Housekeeping Attendant role. I have two years of experience in a 120-room hotel and I am trained in deep cleaning and minibar control. I can join within 15 days. My CV is attached." Keep it polite and short, and always check the name of the hotel before you send it.
Word or PDF?
Keep an editable Word or Google Docs copy so you can update it easily, but send a PDF unless the employer asks for Word. A PDF keeps your hotel CV format neat on every phone and computer, and it looks more professional.
